    Cosmetic Dentistry Costs and Options

Let’s be honest: we all want those pretty, pearly whites, that hit-the-brakes smile. The real question is whether we can pay what it costs to get them. Dental costs can stop our dreams cold, and leave us a little less confident that we might be.

What sort of work is included in cosmetic dentistry? First are the superficial treatments, usually comparatively minor in danger and difficulty, but major in terms of results. Bleaching and other forms of whitening would be considered in that realm. A step up from there are bonding, to replace damaged enamel; pitted, unalterably yellowed or otherwise discolored, chipped, cracked enamel.

Implants are available to replace an entire tooth. After implants come prosthetics, ranging from bridges to full denture sets, all of them designed to help you retain the full function of your mouth and the beauty of your smile. Any can fall under the heading of cosmetic dentistry.

There are, of course, other techniques. Orthodonture, providing braces and other related tools to straighten crooked teeth and improve the overall performance of the jaw and tooth set, can be done for reasons that are primarily cosmetic, though in extreme cases misaligned teeth can be an actual threat to health and well being.

Cosmetic tooth care can even extend into surgery, with efforts made to reduce the visual damage done by receding gums resulting from gum disease.

All of these procedures have their associated costs: costs for x-rays, for materials, for prosthetic manufacture, and on and on. When you decide that the one thing you want is a beautiful, radiant smile, you can be looking at an investment of thousands of dollars.

There is another route, though: there are dental care plans that provide for cosmetic dentistry. It is even possible your dental insurance already covers some forms of cosmetic treatment! Many PPOs and indemnity plans include coverage for a wide range of common cosmetic treatments, and other plans can be obtained that offer more extensive coverage.

You need to do your due-diligence: evaluate plans, research premiums, consider your needs and weigh the offered services against the desire you have for various therapies. Look into alternative approaches, too: be sure to check with local hygiene programs for minor services: in many instances such things as whitening are offered for extreme discounts to permit students to train.

But don’t just shrug and decide you can’t have better health care and a more beautiful smile. There are a wide range of ways to control dental costs, and that is true even of cosmetic dentistry.

    1. You have a very comprehensive list here of alternatives and information about them. With cosmetic dentistry, options are really important for the simple reason that other people need to know what they have as choices and it is important that you entitle them with that. A professional does and should always present options to clients that’s why they’re called professionals.
