The American Dental Association’s (ADA’s) Golden Apple Awards provide a great opportunity for component and constituent societies to acquire recognition for their staff, members, and leaders.
The deadline for filing of nominations for the twenty first Golden Apple Awards Program is on June 1, 2009.
The following are the categories of the program, some of which has sub-categories, for the dental society participation:
1. Achievement in Student or Dental School Involvement in Organized Dentistry;
2. Excellence in Dental Health Promotion;
3. Excellence in Dentist Well-Being Activities;
4. Excellence in Member-Related Benefits/Services;
5. Excellence in Membership Recruitment and Retention Activity;
6. Excellence in Science Fair Promotion and Program Support;
7. Legislative Achievement;
8. Outstanding Achievement in the Field of Dental Ethics;
9. Open Category—this category is for as successful and innovative program that does not fit in other categories; and
10. Inspiring Careers in Dental Education – the nominations for this category is not only for component and constituent dental societies but for other members and dental organizations as well; however, the entries were due last March 2, 2009.
Filing of entries should be sent by e-mail or postmarked before June 1, 2009 ends. Participants are advised to submit their entries electronically. Instructions and forms are available online at www.adadentalsociety.org. Completed forms must be sent to ddss@ada.org.
Meanwhile, the nominations for the Outstanding Leadership in Mentoring Award; Legislative Leadership Award; and New Dentist Leadership Award are due December 1, 2009. These will be awarded at the ADA New Dentist Conference.
