A survey, made by the Oral Health America, revealed that almost 63% or two in three adults living in the United States believe that dental coverage plays an important part of a health development package.
The Oral Health America Dental Survey, conducted by Harris Interactive, an American company engaged in public opinion research, was supported by an organization named Dental Trade Alliance Foundation.
The survey was released during the opening of the National Smile Month, an international campaign that promotes proper dental care such as dental visits, healthy and proper food choices, and brushing. This event was sponsored by the leaders in the dental industry such as the UnitedHealthcare Dental, Dental Trade Alliance Foundation and Patterson Dental. Moreover, the event, which is held every June, is actively participated by various organizations such as the Hispanic Dental Association, National Museum of Dentistry, Oral Health America, community care providers, camps, schools, and dental offices.
“As routines change for summer, this is a great time of year to focus on dental care habits, spend extra time with our children in teaching them to brush their teeth, and to ask our elected officials to support health care for our entire body — including our mouth,” stated by Beth Truett, the CEO and President of Oral Health America, during the opening of the National Smile Month held at the Maryland’s National Museum of Dentistry.
The results of the survey also showed that 92% of the adults know that the deficiency of dental care may result to general poor health condition. In addition, almost 81% of the adults believe that dental care benefits are also as significant as benefits in the health care benefit package.
